Core Components:
Binding Options

Gunther has a myriad of options available to suit every possible application. In fact, no other system on the market can offer the range of automated, in-line binding options than Gunther can – stitching and stapling, corner or booklet style, as well as VeloBind™ and Slip & Grip™ can be selected as needed to enhance appearance and meet regulatory requirements

Corner Stitcher: positioned to apply one stitch to the upper left corner of a document in the portrait orientation. It places a stitch approximately 3/8 inch from the top of the sheets. 2 to 40 sheets may be stitched. A Corner Stitcher can also be placed so that it applies the stitch to the upper left of a document printed in a landscape format.

Book Stitchers are two stitchers placed side by side. They activate together to place two stitches on the document set approximately 2-1/2 inches from the top and bottom of the sheets.

Stapler

Gunther offers a book stapler unit which can staple 2 to 110 sheets of 20 lb bond paper.

Velo-Bind

The Velo-Bind module places two mating plastic strips over the left edge of a document set. It can handle between 2 and 90 sheets of 20-pound bond (or the equivalent). The operator loads cassettes of male and female strips. Each cassette holds 50 pieces. Four cassettes can be loaded at a time.

Slip & Grip

Gunther offers a Slip and Grip module as an in line option on Convertible systems. Slip and Grip is a binding method that utilizes an attractive plastic sleeve placed along the eleven inch edge of an 8-1/2 X 1 1 inch booklet. The sleeve has a triangular cross section and pinches the paper in its "jaws" for a secure grip. Paper can be removed by sliding the sleeve off by hand. This facilitates easy updating of documents.

The applicator section opens the grips and places them over the edge of the booklet. Booklets are assembled at the main feed station and conveyed to the Slip and Grip station. The maximum capacity of the Slip and Grip bind is 40 sheets of 201b paper or the equivalent. Cover stock is typically two or three time the thickness of 201b bond so a covered booklet may be limited to 34 to 36 primary sheets.

The cycle time of the bind process is approximately 2 seconds. This does not alter cycle speed of a typical system in flat mode.
